Classical music in films

Symphonic Music as a Source of Inspiration for Films

Classical music is not necessarily the best cinematic background music. Mostly biographical films such as "Amadeus" use classical music, opera films also convey great classical music. In film, classical music is often very broadly defined and does not only focus on the European art music of the 18th and 19th centuries. Non-European musical traditions or classical modernism are also used to deepen cinematic content. Feature films, in turn, often make classical music a supporting part of their plot, sometimes using classical leitmotifs to characterise people, objects or feelings. In the best moments, films reflect the concentrated power of classical music for their powerful stories.
